Lake Garda may be known for its changeable weather forecasts, but it is (really) not that bad. The weather during the summer months is very similar to the weather around the Italian Coast. When there is a thunderstorm, it is often short-lived. Due to the high mountains surrounding the lake, it is possible that in early April there may still be snow on the highest peaks. From May onwards, the temperature takes an upward trend, quickly moving towards 20 degrees. In the months of June until September it is about 25 degrees during the day and in the evening the temperature can drop to 17 degrees.
Located at the banks and around Lake Garda, there are plenty of campsites that can be founded. One of the most friendly campsites is Cisano san Vito. Lake Garda, with a surface of 158 kilometers, is the largest lake in Italy. In 2021, the 140-kilometer bike path was completed, allowing you to cycle almost car-free along the entire lake.
If you catch a plane to Lake Garda, the most recommended airports are those of Verona or Milan-Bergamo.
Lake Garda is a freshwater lake. The shoreline of the lake is mostly pebbles, flats and grass. Because of this, water shoes are recommended.
